Application Support Specialist

Biomedical Data Solutions are a biomedical software company whose products are used in diagnostic laboratories across the world.  Working for Biomedical Data Solutions provides an opportunity to work on software products that genuinely make a difference to people’s lives.  We are looking to recruit an Application Support Specialist based in USA to join our team. Our dedicated team and helpdesk provide prompt technical support, remotely or on-site to some of the busiest laboratories worldwide. 

 As an Application Support Specialist you will install and configure BDS software at both client sites and remotely, provide application support and training for our end users and manage customer queries to successful resolution.

Responsibilities 

  • Technical Support to customers for software products, services and intrument interfacing, you will be responsible for managing the enquiry from first contact to resolution, ideifying root cause and providing direction for resolution. 
  • Plan and execute customer on-site installations.
  • Provide training to customers, preparing content where required. 
  • Accompany and assist Sales staff with demonstrations of the software. 
  • Work closely with development and test teams to proactively gain and maintain technical knowledge of BDS products.  

Experience

  • Commercial experience as an applications specialist/customer support specialist with a major diagnostic or Life Science Company.
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or work experience.
  • Competent in general software usage in a Windows environment.
  • Experience with complaint assessment, documentation, Investigation, and closure steps.
  • Previous experience with middleware and or LIS (Laboratory Information System) systems preferred.
  • Experience with delivering customer training advantageous.
  • Strong experience with installing and supporting software applications

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills
  • Good knowledge of computer systems within the lab environment.
  • Analytical approach with ability to problem solve.
  • Strong communicator and interpersonal skill.
  • Confident in approach and ability to build good working relationships with customers.
  • Good planning and time management skills to manage own diary for installation, training, and support of solutions.
  • Work with development and commercial teams on resolving escalated.

Travel 

Remote working from home with need to be flexible to travel to customers for installations and Support. An estimated 40-75% travel may be required. There will be occasional UK travel to Head Office for training purposes.
