Product Manager

Working for Biomedical Data Solutions provides an opportunity to work on software products that genuinely make a difference to people’s lives. You will be responsible for driving the end-to-end product development process for the delivery of both our ‘Off the shelf’ and OEM partner products. Reporting to Head of Product Management, you will work closely with the commercial, development, regulatory and support teams in the roles of Subject Matter Expert and Product Owner.

Principal Accountabilities will include:

  • Supporting the Commercial team with tender processes
  • Building professional relationships in the marketplace 
  • Perform business analysis for current and future projects
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert by establishing and maintaining functional and technical expertise
  • Manage product related enquiries, working with relevant teams and act as primary interface between Biomedical Data Solutions and Business Partners/Product End Users 
  • Product ownership according to agreed requirements, quality management system, customer requirements and regulatory aspects 
  • Use laboratory knowledge to provide solutions, compliance and customer confidence
  • Work with internal and external teams to create and deliver training material

Knowledge and Skills 

  • BSc or relevant Science degree
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic laboratories, companies and instrument manufacturers
  • Good understanding of Medical/Health Software domain.
  • Knowledgeable of software development processes
  • Business analysis skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and relationships with clients

Experience Profile 

Required
Experience, in depth knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • Diagnostic laboratories, companies, and instrument manufacturers
  • Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Direct experience in laboratory environments
  • Experienced in presenting demonstrations / training material to internal and external customers

Advantageous

  • Previous product management experience in the diagnostic laboratory market with consistent successful performance
  • Experience of product ownership within in scrum methodologies

You must be able to travel and may be up to 25% of regular work days.

  • Experience of working in an Agile project environment and familiar with Agile testing techniques. Confident in contributing to daily stand-ups, refinement and retrospective meetings.
  • Practical experience of applying exploratory testing techniques to early releases of a product.
  • Strong analytical skills needed to understand the product requirements and translate these into well-defined test cases. Confident in using established test techniques to design appropriate test cases.
  • Familiar with the concepts of DevOps, continuous integration environments/processes.
  • Experience of automated testing beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Familiar with using, creating and managing test environments and test data.
  • Effective reporting of defects, detailing clear steps to reproduce and working with the rest of the team to resolve.

Application Support Specialist

Our dedicated team and helpdesk provide prompt technical support, remotely or on-site to some of the busiest laboratories worldwide. 

 As an Application Support Specialist you will install and configure BDS software at both client sites and remotely, provide application support and training for our end users and manage customer queries to successful resolution.

Responsibilities 

  • Technical Support to customers for software products, services and intrument interfacing, you will be responsible for managing the enquiry from first contact to resolution, ideifying root cause and providing direction for resolution. 
  • Plan and execute customer on-site installations.
  • Provide training to customers, preparing content where required. 
  • Accompany and assist Sales staff with demonstrations of the software. 
  • Work closely with development and test teams to proactively gain and maintain technical knowledge of BDS products.  

Experience

  • Commercial experience as an applications specialist/customer support specialist with a major diagnostic or Life Science Company.
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or work experience.
  • Competent in general software usage in a Windows environment.
  • Experience with complaint assessment, documentation, Investigation, and closure steps.
  • Previous experience with middleware and or LIS (Laboratory Information System) systems preferred.
  • Experience with delivering customer training advantageous.
  • Strong experience with installing and supporting software applications

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills
  • Good knowledge of computer systems within the lab environment.
  • Analytical approach with ability to problem solve.
  • Strong communicator and interpersonal skill.

Travel 

Remote working from home with need to be flexible to travel to customers for installations and Support. An estimated 40-75% travel may be required. There will be occasional UK travel to Head Office for training purposes.
